HeartCode is the American Heart Association’s blended-learning format for healthcare-provider resuscitation courses. Complete the online portion at your own pace, then attend the required hands-on skills session for practice and testing.
Each option combines an online cognitive portion with a required hands-on skills session and leads to the corresponding AHA provider course completion card after all requirements are met.
Complete HeartCode BLS online, then attend hands-on practice and skills testing for high-quality CPR, AED use, ventilations, choking response, and team-based BLS performance.
Complete HeartCode ACLS online, then attend the required hands-on session for CPR, airway management, rhythm-based resuscitation, team dynamics, and ACLS skills/MegaCode evaluation.
Complete HeartCode PALS online, then attend the required hands-on session for pediatric assessment, respiratory and shock emergencies, resuscitation skills, and scenario-based testing.
A flexible blended-learning pathway with online coursework followed by required hands-on skills practice and testing.
Work through the assigned HeartCode online portion at your own pace before the hands-on appointment.
Keep the online completion documentation required for your hands-on skills session.
Practice and demonstrate the course-specific psychomotor skills with an AHA Instructor or approved skills method.
After all requirements are met, the corresponding provider eCard is typically processed within 1–2 business days.
