1. Scope and Who We Are

Ascendant CPR ("Ascendant CPR," "we," "us," or "our") provides CPR, First Aid, BLS, ACLS, PALS, instructor, and related training services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use ascendentcpr.com, create an account, register for training, communicate with us, or use our student services. This Policy applies to our website and booking portal; third-party sites and services have their own privacy practices.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact information: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, company or employer information you choose to provide, and account profile details.
  • Account and authentication information: account identifiers, password hashes where password login is used, passkey/public-key credential information, login timestamps, trusted-device and security-event data. We do not receive the biometric or device-unlock data used by your device to authorize a passkey.
  • Training and certification information: course registrations, attendance, prerequisites, skills or completion status, instructor/course records, eCard or certification information, and information needed to administer applicable training-program requirements.
  • Transaction information: purchases, payment status, receipts, refunds, and payment-provider transaction identifiers. Payment card entry is handled by Stripe or another disclosed payment processor; we do not intentionally store full payment-card numbers or card security codes on our application servers.
  • Communications: support requests, email and SMS delivery or preference records, waitlist communications, and messages you send through our website or portal.
  • Device and security data: IP address, browser/user-agent information, session identifiers, timestamps, audit logs, and technical information used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and prevent abuse of the service.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide, schedule, administer, and document training and certification services.
  • Create and maintain accounts, authenticate users, support passkeys, and protect account and website security.
  • Process transactions, provide receipts, handle permitted rescheduling or refund assistance, and maintain financial records.
  • Send class confirmations, service notices, scheduling changes, account/security notices, renewal reminders you request, and other transactional communications.
  • Respond to support inquiries, maintain records, comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, detect fraud or misuse, and improve the reliability and security of our services.

4. When We Disclose Information

We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including to service providers acting on our behalf; payment processors such as Stripe; communications providers such as email or SMS vendors; hosting and security providers; instructors or staff who need the information to administer a class; and the American Heart Association or related training-system platforms when needed to administer eligible AHA training or credentials. We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, security, and the integrity of our services.

We do not knowingly sell personal information for money. Based on the current website configuration, we do not use third-party advertising trackers for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices materially change, we will update this Policy and provide any legally required choices.

5. Payments and Third-Party Services

Payment transactions may be completed on Stripe-hosted or Stripe-enabled pages. Stripe processes payment information under its own terms and privacy notice. Other third-party resources linked from our site, including AHA platforms or mapping services, are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information directly to those services.

6. Email and SMS Communications

We may send transactional communications that are necessary to provide requested services, such as booking confirmations, class changes, security notices, support replies, or credential-related messages. Where we offer optional marketing or promotional communications, we use the consent and preference choices presented to you. Consent to optional marketing text messages is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. You may use an unsubscribe link in a marketing email or reply STOP to an eligible marketing SMS. Service or security messages may still be sent when necessary to fulfill a transaction, administer your account, or comply with law.

7. Cookies, Sessions, and Passkeys

Our website uses cookies or similar browser storage needed for account sessions, security, preferences, and core site operation. We use secure session controls where supported. Passkeys use public-key cryptography: your device retains the private credential and authenticates you locally, while our service stores the public credential information needed to verify sign-in. We do not receive your device PIN, fingerprint, facial scan, or other local biometric unlock data.

8. Security and Data-Breach Response

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted transport, access controls, authentication safeguards, security logging, restricted file handling, and payment separation. No system can guarantee absolute security. If we discover a security incident involving personal information, we will investigate and provide notices to affected individuals or authorities when and as required by applicable law.

9. Retention and Disposal

We retain personal information for only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing services, maintaining required training or business records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, preventing fraud, and meeting tax, accounting, certification-program, or legal requirements. Retention periods vary by record type. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, de-identify, or securely dispose of it, subject to lawful backup, recordkeeping, and security exceptions.

10. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

You may update certain account and communication information through available account tools or by contacting us. Depending on where you live and the law that applies to us, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain personal information; to opt out of certain processing; or to appeal a privacy-request decision. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request and may retain information where an exception applies. Where legally required and technically applicable, we will honor recognized browser-based universal opt-out signals for processing covered by those laws.

11. Children’s Privacy

Our online account and purchasing services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from a child under 13 without legally sufficient parental or guardian authorization. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information to us should contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.

12. State-Specific and Other Legal Rights

Privacy rights differ by jurisdiction and may apply only when statutory thresholds or other requirements are met. Nothing in this Policy limits rights that cannot legally be waived. We will process valid privacy requests in accordance with the law that applies to the request and our business.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, vendors, or legal obligations change. The effective date shown on this page identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated in a manner appropriate to the change and as required by applicable law.
